About
At this point, I had some experience with the caning process. My mind was now focused on what I could potentially cane. I looked for objects that already possessed the frame and holes. I came across this children's trampoline and decided to see if the cane could make it whole again. Caning is an extremely long and repetitive process that comes together quite slowly. By the time this project was coming to an end, I had noticed that the cane was too far apart to stand on. Not that that was the intention, but I found it interesting that I somehow made this dangerous children's toy more dangerous. The shadows in this piece show the opposite of what the cane study shows. Instead of tight gaps that show strength, you see these wide shapes and gaps that join the outside.
