This was my first attempt at working with cane. I learned a lot about the process of soaking the cane so that it can be pliable. I wanted the cane to be the focus so the frame is made up of laser-cut acrylic. Interestingly, when the cane dried and shrank it warped the frame creating this natural paraboloid. It felt like the material still had life and movement. The negative of the piece projected onto the floor as the shadow showed this relationship between the lines. The strength lied with the weave.
